Finance Calculators
The finance calculators here help you work out the numbers behind everyday borrowing and tax questions: what a loan will cost each month, how long a debt will take to clear, how savings grow, and how much tax applies. They’re grouped into four areas:
- Loans: the loan calculator gives the payment and amortization schedule for any fixed-rate loan, the mortgage calculator adds property tax, insurance, PMI and HOA dues and shows when PMI ends, and the auto loan calculator handles trade-ins, sales tax and fees.
- Debt: the credit card payoff calculator shows how long a balance takes to clear, or the payment needed to clear it by a date, and the debt payoff calculator compares the snowball and avalanche methods across several debts.
- Savings and investing: the compound interest calculator shows how a deposit and monthly contributions grow with daily, monthly, quarterly or annual compounding, the savings goal calculator finds the monthly amount needed to reach a target by a date, and the retirement calculator projects savings in today’s dollars and how long they would last.
- Taxes: the income tax calculator applies the IRS 2026 federal brackets and standard deduction for each filing status, and the sales tax calculator adds tax to a price or removes it from a total.
Every page in this section follows the same rules. The formula is written out in full with a worked example you can check by hand. Figures are cited to authoritative sources such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and IRS publications, and each page shows the date it was last reviewed. Default inputs like interest rates and tax rates are examples, not typical or recommended values, so replace them with the numbers from your own loan offer, statement or tax documents.
The results are estimates. Lenders may calculate interest daily, add fees or use escrow cushions; tax rules include credits and special cases a simple calculator can’t cover. Use these tools to compare options and plan, then confirm the details with your lender, card issuer or tax documents.
These calculators are for general information and aren’t financial, tax or legal advice. For decisions about your own situation, talk to a qualified professional.
